Doctors and paramedical staff of District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ)Landi Kotal under the banner of Grand Health Alliance(GHA) gave up their duties on Monday against lack of facilities, nonpaying of their share in hospital fund and corruption in the health center.
The protestors while fastening black ribbons around their hands, closed down laboratory, x-rays and ultrasound in protest although outdoor patient departments (OPDs) and emergency were open to treat the patients, hospital sources informed.
Speaking on the occasion the Alliance Chairman Dr Awais and President Mujib Afridi said that granting due share in the hospital fund was the legal right of the paramedical staff but the Medical Superintendent(MS)refused to pay them that was injustice to them.
They blamed that the health center lacked services like facilities for emergency heart attack and free medicines for the patients but the MS had turned blinds eyes towards it.
They demanded to set up a frame shop for local purchase and asked the heath highup to conduct an enquiry against the allegedly corruption in the hospital fund.
The protestors threatened that if their demands were not addressed then they would also give up their duties in OPDs.
When the MS Dr Jamshed Sherani was asked for his version on the matter he said that on the written direction of the health department, payment of shares of paramedical crew in the health center was halted.
The hospital was functioning in routine and departmental action would be taken against those staff who boycotted their duties, he added.
He vowed that efforts were under process to provide quality treatment facilities to the locals at their door steps.
