Parents, teachers demand reopening of schools closed due to border tensions

Parents and teachers have raised serious concerns over ongoing tensions along the Pak-Afghan border, which have forced the closure of schools near the frontier for weeks, leaving them still shut and pushing the future of local children into darkness.
Talking to media, parents,teachers and political leaders said that the prolonged closure of educational institutions has become a serious issue, with growing calls for their immediate reopening.
Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Landikotal, Murad Hussain Afridi, expressed deep concern over the situation, stating that the continued disruption in children’s education was not only harmful to their future but also poses a significant obstacle to the overall development of society.
He emphasized that the interruption of academic activities was depriving innocent children of their fundamental right to education.
He urged the concerned authorities to take the situation seriously and implement practical measures to ensure the prompt reopening of closed schools.
“Providing education to children in a safe and secure environment is a fundamental responsibility of the state and any negligence in this regard is unacceptable,” he added.
Parents and teachers have also voiced unanimous concern, stressing that continuity in education was the need of the hour.
They called on the government to take urgent steps on an emergency basis to restore educational activities and secure the future of children in the affected areas.
The demand highlights the urgency of balancing security challenges with the essential need to maintain access to education in border regions.
