District administration Peshawar banned parking in front of the Emergency Gate of the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedural Code (CrPC), said an official notification issued here on Friday.
The decision has been taken while keeping in view the hardships of the patients entering the hospitals.
It has been observed that parking of vehicles in front of the Emergency Gate of Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) is causing obstruction and hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic.
Moreover, it is also triggering a serious threat to the precious lives of patients carried by ambulances and private vehicles entering the hospital.
Parking in front of the hospital not only poses a serious security threat, rather, also disrupts the smooth flow of traffic and causes inconvenience to the public at large.
Furthermore, there is a history of terrorist activities, wherein, a large number of police officials and civilians embraced martyrdom.
Hence, due to the prevailing overall security situation and recent wave of terrorism and threat alert, the district administration has deemed it necessary to impose Section 144 of CRPC, 1898 on parking in front of hospitals and such like other activities.
In a meeting held here with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar in the chair it was decided that parking in front of the Emergency Gate of LRH is cognizable offence under Schedule IV of Section 66 of Local Govt Act, 2013 and recommended to impose ban on parking in front of LRH Emergency Gate.
Anyone found violating the ban would be preceded under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The order would remain enforced for a period of 60 days unless modified or withdrawn.
