A delegation of Pashtuns headed by Advisor to Prime Minister Amir Muqam on Tuesday called on Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and informed him about their reservations.
After the meeting, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah talking to reporters said that Pakhuns have full and every right to reside in Punjab and allegations of their victimization being raised in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh were attempts to “spread hatred” against Punjab.
“Pakhtuns living in Punjab are our brothers,” he maintained.
He said Pakistanis living throughout the country have to combat terrorism together and regretted that the common man sometimes had to face problems during search operations.
The minister said efforts will be made to implement the suggestions given by Amir Muqam to consider the “protection of the four walls of houses and respect to people” during the search operations.
Punjab Law Minister said the chief minister has ensured the delegate that Pashtuns, residing in Punjab, no one will mistreat Pakhtoons as they are our brothers.
Rana Sanaullah also said that government will not let the terrorists succeed in their heinous purposes.
“It is highly condemnable that some so-called political parties and leaders in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are doing politics of point scoring on the matter… they want to gain people’s sympathies by inflicting fear in them,” he said. “This is enmity against the country.”
The law minister said that the country was facing terrorism challenges and common citizens have also been affected in operation against terrorists. He said that cancer of terrorism from the country would be eliminated with unity, adding that the government was taking every possible step for rooting out terrorism from the country.
Rana Sanaullah said that during search operation, law enforcement agency would try to avoid violation of protection of four boundary walls of the houses.
On the occasion, Amir Muqam told media persons that they had reservations regarding the privacy and asked CM that a lady officer and local representative should be present during the search operations.
Amir Muqam said that whole country is fighting war against terrorism, and Pashtuns are not being treated unfairly. It is not appropriate to make this matter a political issue, he added.
