PESHAWAR: Patients at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) are facing serious difficulties after the hospital’s MRI machine reportedly remained out of service for the past five days, forcing many to seek expensive diagnostic services at private centers. Despite the provincial government’s claims of a health emergency and efforts to improve healthcare services, residents say access to essential medical facilities remains a challenge. According to patients’ attendants on Tuesday, the malfunctioning MRI machine at the major teaching hospital has affected dozens of patients daily, causing delays in diagnosis and treatment. Patients and their families have expressed concern over the situation, stating that they have no option but to undergo MRI scans at private facilities, which places an additional financial burden on them.
