PESHAWAR
Peshawar District Cricket Association Thursday expressed concern over not holding national and international cricket matches in Peshawar.
This was stated by President Peshawar District Cricket Association (PDCA) Asghar Ali Khan while presiding over a meeting of the association here on Thursday. General Secretary PDCA Hanif Shah and other officials also attended the meeting.
In the meeting, concern was expressed over the non-holding of national and international cricket matches in the province, especially Peshawar, and it was said that despite being a test center, Peshawar is deprived of national and international matches, which is unfair and excessive, two stadiums for many years are closed due to which the cricketers of Peshawar are not benefiting from the standard ground. The participants said that many national and international cricket players have been injured due to playing on the common ground, besides, the people of the province have been longing for many years to watch PSL and international matches.
The meeting demanded from the provincial government to speed up the work on the two under construction Cricket Stadium – Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium and Hayatabad Cricket Stadium.
These two Stadiums should be handed over to the PCB so that cricket is restored and the youth get opportunities to see good cricket and international players, the meeting added.
