In a series of inspections, the district administration of Peshawar has taken significant action against business malpractice in the city. Over the course of three days, officials inspected 568 business centers in various areas, including University Road, Charsadda Road, GT Road, DalaZak Road, Circular Road, inner city markets, and Hayatabad.
The district administration arrested 83 shopkeepers for violations such as charging exorbitant prices, selling underweight roti (bread), failing to display official price lists and poor hygiene standards.
A statement issued here said that more than 241 shopkeepers were warned to improve their practices or face stricter penalties in future inspections.
It added that the team inspected butchers, bakers, and fruit and vegetable vendors, among others.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar Sarmad Saleem Akram emphasized that official price lists for fruits and vegetables are issued daily and must be followed.
Administrative officers have been tasked with conducting regular market inspections to enforce compliance. Legal action will be pursued against those found violating the rules, ensuring fair prices and better market conditions for consumers.
