PESHAWAR: On the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Syed Shahab Ali Shah, the district administration of Peshawar has launched a comprehensive operation to eliminate illegal encroachments, clear obstructed waterways, improve sanitation and drainage, streamline traffic flow, and reclaim government land from illegal occupants. As part of this campaign, anti-encroachment operations were carried out in multiple areas of the city, resulting in the recovery of government land worth crores of rupees. Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Sarmad Saleem Akram said that during the ongoing city-wide crackdown, illegal structures constructed on a drain at Kabutar Chowk were demolished using heavy machinery. The step aims to restore the drainage system and protect citizens from potential flooding and sanitation issues during the monsoon season. He added that a significant operation was also conducted along the Hazarkhawani Canal near Namak Mandi Chowk, where encroachments were removed and valuable government land was reclaimed from illegal occupants. In a separate action, authorities targeted an illegal parking stand near Naseerullah Babar Hospital on Kohat Road. Two individuals were arrested during the operation. The stand had been obstructing the smooth movement of patients and ambulances, posing a serious risk to emergency medical services. The deputy commissioner urged citizens to refrain from encroaching on drains, canals, public roads, and government land. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in enforcing construction laws and urban development regulations. DLP Report
