Peshawar Police have nabbed a group of several car lifters, stated a senior police officer here on Monday.
Hassan Jehangir, who is the Superintendent of Police (SP) for cantonment area in Peshawar, told media persons that they, along with their anti-car lifting cell staff, took action by busting the gang. “They have been identified as Abdullah, Naushad, Bashir, and Ishaq,” said Hassan Jahangir.
He added that the members of the gang used to change the engine and chassis numbers and also had relations with staffers of the Excise and other departments.
Also, the police have recovered 8 stolen vehicles, which would be handed over to owners.
He said the gang would sell the lifted vehicles to people while using their fake documents. “The receivers of the cars as well as the real owners are being traced,” he said.
Also, the CCPO Muhammad Ali Gandapur chaired a crime meeting in Khyber district. The meeting in this respect was also attended by DPO Muhammad Iqbal and others.
Gandapur asked the officials to complete investigations in the crimes in the area.
He also asked police to coordinate with other agencies to fight crime and use intelligence sharing strategy for law and order in Khyber district.
