Petition has been filed in Peshawar High Court (PHC) for holding timely Local Bodies (LB) polls in KP. The petition has been filed Local council association KP. Election commission, provincial government and secretary local government have been made respondents in the petition. The petitioner took the plea the term of LB polls will be completed in the province in March. It is legal binding on the government to hold new LB polls within 120 days. It has been further said if polls are not held in time on expiry of term then constitutional vacuum can be created in the province.
The petitioner requested the court to issue order to Election Commission to hold polls in time. Directives be issued to provincial government that necessary steps be taken to hold LB polls.
It was further said in the petition court should issue proper orders to respondents to issue schedule for holding timely LB polls in the province.
