Pakistan permanent representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar while addressing UN Security Council meeting has said the region was drifted into conflict by conducting unnecessary attack on Iran. As per media reports, he expressed grave concern over growing tension in Middle East besides condemning US-Israeli attacks on Iran. While announcing Pakistan support on the resolutions presented by Russia and Bahrain he said the attacks on Iran have not only put regional peace and security at stake but also international peace and security as well.
Pakistan supports the security and sovereignty of Iran. Unnecessary attacks on any country can push the entire region to a major conflict.
Pakistan delegate said it is feared the recent tension can lead to creation of immense human crisis.
He said two Pakistanis were killed during attacks on UAE. Millions of Pakistan settled in Gulf countries are becoming affected due to this situation.
Oil prices have risen due to tension and hike in prices is impacting the entire world. Aviation sector too has been affected due to disruption in air operations.
He stressed that missile and drone attacks are causing damage to urban population and property which is against the international laws.
He held solution to problems does not lie in use of force but it lies in diplomacy and dialogue. All the parties will have to take steps with good intent for restoration of confidence.
He said no country has any right to try to run other countries of the region on its conditional- ties. .
He observed ongoing tension in the territories of Palestine and Arab region is pushing the entire region to the instability.
He appealed to international community to pursue the parties concerned to ease tension forthwith, avoid making further attacks and giving opportunity to diplomacy so that the peace could be restored in the region.
