PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has restrained government and relevant authorities from arresting or deporting two Afghan journalists. The court has ordered that federal government should determine the case of the petitioners within two months. PHC has issued written decision on the petitions of two Afghan journalists regarding their stay in Pakistan. t has been said in the decision the petitioners Syed Ehsanullah Salehi and Syed Munir Ahmad, are Afghan journalists who came to Pakistan on legal visa and are still staying in Pakistan. According to the petitioners they had given applications for settlement in France in 2026 which are under consideration. Embassy of France has endorsed their cases. It has been said in the decision despite their legal stay in Pakistan they fear they their arrest and deportation from Pakistan. Due to this fear they cannot move freely. They have even no access to hospitals and medical facilities. The court remarked the petitions of petitioners in connection with settlement in third country France are pending hearing. Federal government should see the cases of the petitioners within 60 days. Federal government and respective agencies should not arrest the petitioners for 60 days. Government should not deport the petitioners to Afghanistan. If government fails to give its decision within 60 days then secretary interior ministry shall issue temporary permission to the petitioners. DNA
