PESHAWAR: KP Chief Khatib Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi on Monday urged the nation to celebrate August 14 with dignity, calling the coincidence of Independence Day and Eid Milad-un-Nabi a “divine blessing.” In a statement issued here, he said it was time to honor the sacrifices behind Pakistan’s creation and to educate the youth about the Pakistan Movement. He expressed full support for the armed forces and police, saying “they are the children of this soil,” and urged ulema to speak against terrorism in Friday sermons. Maulana Qureshi also called on political parties to reduce polarization, said Pakistan’s recent accord with Saudi Arabia and Turkey had unsettled its adversaries, and stressed that change in AJK must come only through democratic means. He added that Pakistan seeks better ties with Afghanistan, which “will have to choose between Pakistan and India.” DLP Report
