The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday sought a response from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Swabi for sharing women’s TikTok videos without their consent.
A petition was filed against the unauthorized sharing of videos on the DC’s official page. The case was heard by Justice Naeem Anwar and Justice Dr. Khurshid Iqbal.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer argued that the DC attended a sports gala at Swabi Women’s University, where he recorded TikTok videos and later shared them on his official page. The lawyer further stated that the videos were uploaded without the consent of the women involved, violating their privacy.
The petitioner’s lawyer also claimed that the DC had previously uploaded TikTok videos featuring Indian and Pashto songs during the holy month of Ramadan, accusing him of misusing his official position.
The court was requested to stop the DC from such actions and to order the removal of the videos from the official page. After hearing the initial arguments, the court issued a notice to the DC, seeking an explanation.
