Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Farah Khan has strongly criticized 13-year rule of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, asserting that party violated sanctity of votes cast by province’s 45 million residents.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday at Peshawar Press Club alongside fellow PMLN leaders, she accused PTI of attempting to create a ‘state within a state’ by bypassing federal government to engage in independent negotiations with Afghanistan and terrorist groups.
She argued that governance was entirely absent during their tenure, as PTI leadership prioritized protesting atop containers and attacking central government for personal political gain over serving the public.
Farah Khan highlighted massive financial irregularities and systemic failures under PTI administration, claiming that billions of rupees provided by Centre for counter terrorism, including PKR 800 billion meant for police force went missing without record, leaving security personnel vulnerable.
She said that unprecedented corruption scandals plagued the health, education, and mining sectors, where licenses were allegedly doled out to favorites, while daily acts of corruption occurred under guise of creating a ‘Riyasat-e-Madina.’
She further condemned PTI leaders for failing to respect fallen personnel by ignoring funeral prayers of martyred security forces and citizens, reminding public that PTI founder Imran Khan had facilitated return of terrorists and announced opening offices for them during his government.
Concluding her press conference, the PML-N lawmaker contrasted the PTI’s record with recent governance shifts and offered advice on broader political climate.
She observed that while PTI barely convened Apex Committee meetings in 13 years, two were held within 10 days of Governor’s Rule, adding that public celebrated with sweets when Chief Minister’s powers were transferred to Governor.
She underscored that while Pakistan is now securing international agreements with nations like Turkey and European countries, those who patronize terrorists face their inevitable downfall.
Lastly, she described recent statements by Maulana Fazlur Rehman as deeply regrettable, urging seasoned political figure to exercise caution and use his influence to help stabilize political landscape during this delicate time.
