Police on Saturday claimed to have traced and apprehended a gang involved in a series of motorcycle lifting cases from red zone areas of the provincial capital.
The police team led by SP Cantt Division Aitzaz Arif, DSP Cantt Circle Dost Muhammad Khan, and SHO Police Station Sharqi Khalid Afridi successfully traced and apprehended a gang involved in a series of motorcycle theft incidents.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Haider Ali and Rais, a reservist from Nowshera district.
As a result of the operation, police recovered nine stolen motorcycles, five motorcycle parts, and Rs 500,000 in cash, which the accused had obtained from selling the stolen bikes.
The gang had been stealing motorcycles from parking lots in various sensitive areas of the Cantt and selling the stolen bikes in parts at inflated prices, said police officials.
The suspects were apprehended following a thorough investigation that utilized modern scientific methods.
Both individuals admitted to their involvement in several motorcycle thefts during initial interrogations.
The action was taken after Naeemullah and Muhammad Younis, victims of motorcycle theft, filed separate reports at the East Police Station.
