A bid of smuggling of narcotics from Afghanistan to Pakistan was foiled when the police officials recovered 49 kg from Afghanistan returned truck here at michni checkpoint,Torkham last night.
The police official said that on tip off,the narcotics eradication team(NET) with support of local police officials stopped a suspected Afghanistan returned empty truck vehicle bearing registration no. KBL-77437 for examination.
During checking 49 kg and 800 g fine quality heroin were recovered, concealed in various cavities of the truck.
An allegedly smuggler driver of the truck known as Noor son of Abdussatar, an Afghan national was arrested and put behind the bars for investigation, the official said.
District police officer (DPO), Muhammad Imran said that on the direction of the highup, operation against narcotics had been initiated across the Khyber and all necessary initiatives would be adopted to curtail smuggling of narcotics.
He also praised the NET and police officials for carrying out successful activity at the Michni check post.
