A Peshawar Accountability Court on Tuesday handed over a police officer arrested in the Upper Kohistan financial scandal to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a 13-day physical remand.
According to court proceedings, Accountability Judge Amjad Zia approved the remand after hearing arguments from the investigation officer, who stated that the accused, Naseeruddin Babar, serves as a Sub-Inspector in the police department and is involved in the Upper Kohistan financial scandal.
The investigation officer informed the court that millions of rupees were recovered from the accused’s possession and that he is accused of embezzling more than Rs 60 million.
The officer requested physical remand for further investigation, which the court granted. The accused has been handed over to NAB for 13 days for interrogation.
