PESHAWAR
A delegation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led by former leader of opposition Syed Khurshid Shah on Tuesday visited Awami National Party (ANP) headquarters Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar.
The PPP leaders during the visit formally invited ANP to join its anti-government long march.
The PPP delegation called on ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan and other leaders.
The PPP delegation included Faisal Karim Kundi, Sajid Hussain Turi and other leaders discussed the political situation of the country.
ANP provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, spokesman Samar Haroon Bilour and other leaders were also present in the meeting.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that it was very important to play the role of opposition in democracy.
He said the decision about joining the PPP anti-government long march would be decided after consultation among party senior members, adding that ANP has cordial relations with all opposition parties and always stood for strengthening democracy in the country.
The ANP believes that the removal of the present government is necessary to save the country from further crises. He said that clean, transparent and interference free elections should be held in the country.
ANP will work with the PPP to formulate a strategy for a joint democratic struggle, he added.
