Professor Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, has officially taken on the additional responsibilities as Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University, Peshawar. He assumed the additional charge in the presence of the university’s Registrar, Daud Zahid, last day.
According to the notification issued by the Higher Education Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq has been entrusted with the additional charge of Islamia College University, Peshawar. Alongside KMU, he will now also oversee the affairs of Islamia College University.
Professor Zia Ul Haq has made significant contributions to higher education, research, and institutional development. In recognition of his outstanding academic, research, and administrative services, he has been honored with the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan and the Professor Meritorious status by the provincial government. Over the past four years, he has played a pivotal role in elevating KMU to the ranks of the country’s top universities.
In acknowledgment of these achievements, he has now been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Islamia College University. It is expected that under his leadership, Islamia College University will also progress significantly in the fields of education and research.
After assuming charge, Professor Zia Ul Haq met with senior officials of Islamia College University, including Registrar Daud Zahid, Professor Dr. Arbab Safeer Ahmad (Director of Material Sciences), and Lecturer Falak Niaz (Department of English).
During the meeting, he expressed his commitment to fulfilling the trust placed in him by the provincial government.
He stated that being appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University is not only an honor but also a great challenge, which he is determined to meet with utmost dedication.
He highlighted that his primary challenge will be to put Islamia College University on a path of self-reliance and financial independence.
He further emphasized that his top priority will be the promotion of e-governance through comprehensive computerization, which will include e-classrooms, digitized examination systems, and paperless administrative, accounting, and auditing processes in line with modern e-system.
Additionally, he announced a special focus on reclaiming the university’s encroached land and utilizing it for commercial activities through public-private partnerships. He affirmed his belief in teamwork and assured that all stakeholders, including faculty, administrative staff, and students, will be involved in restoring the past glory of Islamia College University.
