Professor Dr. Ghazala Yasmin has officially assumed charge as the new Vice Chancellor of Women University Swabi (WUS). Her appointment comes as part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s broader initiative to fill key leadership positions in 19 public sector universities across the province. A distinguished academic, Dr. Yasmin holds a PhD in Economics and has completed post-doctoral trainings at the University of Edinburgh and Michigan State University. Being a staunch advocate of women empowerment, she holds a remarkable position in the academic landscape of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dr. Yasmin is a seasoned academic leader with an outstanding record of institutional development and academic excellence. She previously served as the founding Vice Chancellor of Women University Mardan (WUM), where she spearheaded a rapid expansion that grew the university to 22 academic departments offering 44 undergraduate and 30 graduate programs and established two campuses and 18 affiliated colleges. Under her leadership, Women University Mardan earned the distinction of being ranked the No. 1 women’s university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and No. 6 overall in Pakistan. She served as acting vice chancellor University of Technology Noshehra.Her contributions have been recognized with major honors, including the University Gold Medal, the Star Women International Award, and the Quaid-e-Azam Award. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (UK) and received a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government award for outstanding financial administration during her tenure at WUM..
