Residents of Shahdra Sharief in Rajouri, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), staged a massive protest against the negligence of authorities and the alleged use of substandard material in ongoing road repair works.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of protesters gathered and raised slogans demanding accountability and urgent intervention from senior officials. They accused the local administration and the Public Works Department of using poor-quality material in the macadamization of a vital link road, thereby endangering public safety.
Protesters said that despite repeated complaints, no proper inspection had been carried out by higher authorities, allowing the substandard work to continue unchecked. They pointed out that black-topping of the road began just a day earlier, yet the surface had already started deteriorating.
The agitated residents called for strict action against responsible officials and contractors, immediate suspension of payments for the ongoing project, cancellation of the contract, and an independent inquiry to determine accountability.
They warned that if their demands are not met promptly, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days, holding the authorities fully responsible for their indifference.
