PTI announces to move high court against sentences

PTI while declaring the sentences announced in May 9 case controversial and non transparent has announced to resort to high court.
Party leadership has termed the decision as conviction against democracy.
Addressing a press conference here in Islamabad party leadership has expressed strong reaction over May 9 vandalism and rioting case.
Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar said there is no dearth of controversial decisions in Pakistan. One more has been added to controversial decisions. People have lost trust on institutions. The sentences were handed down without meeting legal norms.
We had said from the very beginning there should be transparent trial. We should also be given opportunity of defence. It was said conspiracy was hatched. PTI founder planned it.
Suleman Akram Raja said there are only two witnesses in May 9 case. One was hiding under chair. The entire edifice was erected on the basis of lying. This is not political but is matter of future of our country. Punishment has not been awarded to our leaders but it has been awarded to democracy.
Senator Babar Awan said when cipher came then midnight justice came. We will approach high court against the conviction.
PTI information secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram said their witness was listening all while hiding himself under table. Their witness was not present and he was on leave. There is case of smashing vehicles but vehicles were not presented.
He said ailing Yasmin Rashid was brought from hospital to jail. Case was registered against 400 persons.. Trial was conducted only of 14 persons.
PTI leadership earlier had dubbed Anti Terrorism Court Sargodha decision for sentencing party leaders to 10 years in prison another blackest day of judicial history of Pakistan.
