Former Foreign Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Tuesday his party was being ‘discriminated’ by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in foreign funding case.
“Scrutiny of other parties’ foreign accounts was also conducted. We are not objecting our accountability but other parties must also be questioned,” Qureshi said, while talking to media outside ECP.
On April 14, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to decide the PTI Foreign Funding case in the next 30 days.
On Tuesday, the ECP conducted hearing of the case. Shah Mehmood Qureshi while talking to media after hearing said that his party did not receive any ‘forbidden funding’. This case had no validity and his party was being victimized, Qureshi maintained.
Former Foreign Minister said that PTI had already presented every proof before the ECP. “We answered ECP Scrutiny Committee’s each and every question but they exceeded their mandate,” Qureshi asserted.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that PTI was the first political party to raise the concept of ‘political fund raising’. “We gathered funds with help of donations but never looted national wealth,” he added.
