Thousands aim for jails in all districts of KP, says Atif Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter senior leaders would present themselves for the arrest in Peshawar on Thursday as its party Jail Bharo Tehreek entered into second day.
Senior PTI leaders Shah Farman, Atif Khan, Ishtiaq Urmar and Shaukat Yousifzai on Wednesday held a joint news conference in Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and announced their plan for starting the Jail Bharo Tehreek with their arrest in the provincial capital.
PTI leader and former governor KP Shah Farman on this occasion thousands of party supporters and workers waiting anxiously to get arrested under the court arrest drive.
Thousands of workers of the party would present themselves for the police arrest today (Thursday), he added.
He urged the party workers to take part in the court arrest drive launched across the country to mark their protest against the incumbent government’s unwise policies.
Atif Khan said that the drive has been launched on the instruction of party chairman Imran Khan which will be continued peacefully across the province.
He demanded of the incumbent provincial government and governor to announce the date for election in KP, adding that the court arrest movement would expose the federal government inhuman attitude toward PTI leaders and workers.
He said that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has created political and economical instability in the country and failed to provide any tangible relief to masses since coming into power.
Shah Farman maintained that the incumbent government was allegedly involved in utilizing government resources for political victimization, adding that resources are being utilized allegedly on phone tapes and pressuring PTI supporters and workers.
Meanwhile, former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser announced that he would present himself up for arrest in Peshawar on Thursday (today).
He said that PTI ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ has entered into the second day in KP.
In a video shared on Twitter, PTI leader Asad Qaiser said that the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ has been started from Lahore and senior leadership of the party have presented themselves for the arrest, adding that its party workers and leadership feel proud over those who presented themselves for the arrest on the call of party chairman Imran Khan.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI’s senior leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Senator Azam Swat have forced themselves into the police van to initiate “Jail Bharo Tehreek “drive against the incumbent government which according to ex-prime minister Imran Khan is aimed at countering the attack on the party’s fundamental rights and the economic meltdown. “ We will kick start court arrest drive from Peshawar on Thursday. A number of party’s senior leadership will present themselves for arrest,” he added and said that PTI was endeavoring to strengthen the rule of law in Pakistan.
Without law, accountability of corrupt leaders and independent judiciary, the country could not move forward, Qaiser added. Former Speaker of NA also appealed to the public to take to the street and join the movement of PTI court arrest drive.
According to PTI senior leaders more than 2500 party workers of the party have so far registered themselves for the drive in Peshawar.
Meanwhile, the condition of jails in KP presents the worst picture as the number of prisoners detained in these facilities has far exceeded their capacity limit.
As per the official statistics, there are six central, eight districts and 24 jails in KP.
The total number of prisoners who can be detained in these jails is 13,076.
But, currently, there are 14,430 prisoners imprisoned in the jails of the province.
