Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organized a protest demonstration at Bacha Khan Chowk in Landikotal Bazaar on Sunday and demanded the immediate release of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan.
The protest was led by additional general secretary Sher Mat Khan, senior leader Abdul Raziq Shinwari, chairman Abu Darda Shinwari, Maulana Shoaib Qadri, Fakhruddin Shinwari, Jafar Shinwari, Sajjad Shinwari, Mehrab Shah Afridi, Abid Afridi, Azizullah Afridi, other party elders and activists.
Protesters chanted slogans such as “Release Imran Khan” as they expressed their support for the former premier, who has been in jail since 2023 following a series of legal cases and convictions, including charges of corruption and state secrets violation. PTI workers and supporters alleged that the cases filed against Imran Khan were politically motivated and aim to sideline Khan from politics.
“Imran Khan has always stood for the rights of the common people and raised his voice in difficult times,” said one of the speakers. “His imprisonment is unjust, and we demand his immediate release.” The protest concluded peaceful rally at district press club in Landikotal, where a concluding prayer was held before the participants dispersed.
PTI has been organizing similar demonstrations across the country as part of a nationwide movement demanding fair treatment of political leaders and restoration of democracy.
