Public awareness session highlights role of young women in Justice Sector

The Department of Criminology in collaboration with Shirkat Gah Women’s Resource Centre under the project Women Accessing and Delivering Justice, funded by UN Women and Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, University of Peshawar Students’ Societies, and the KP Police organized a Public Awareness Session on Mobilizing Young Women and Girls on Joining Justice Sector Institutions on 21st January, 2026 at the Department of Criminology, University of Peshawar.
The event was joined by the esteemed guests and speakers, Ms. Humaira Shaikh, Director, Shirkat Gah; Dr. Basharat Hussain, Chairman, Department of Criminology, who delivered his speech on Community Policing; Dr. Samina Afridi, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, who discussed the Need of Women in Justice Sector Institutions; Ms. Shazia Shahid, AIG Telecommunication, KP Police, who delivered her personal experience on the Opportunities for Women in KP Police, and Mr. Hukam Khan, Director, Pokice Training School, Shakas, Khyber, who shared the Importance of Women in Building a Safer Pakistan. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Javeria Raza, Lecturer, Department of Criminology.
The event was concluded with a Token of Appreciation presented to the guest speakers and organizers from the University of Peshawar.
The guest speakers and the participants from the KP Police were then taken on an excursion visit to the Business Incubation Centre, Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, and the Pakistan Forest Institute.
