Punjab cabinet has declared impracticable constitutional amendment bill- 2025 in respect of reserved seats for women and non Muslims.
Rejecting the proposal for giving reserved seats on the basis of votes, Punjab government has decided to maintain the existing constitutional procedure for reserved seats of women and non Muslims.
Punjab government has given negative reply on constitutional amendment bill from private member.
The cabinet decided that amendment in article 51 and 106 is impracticable.
Standing committee for legislation and privatization has rejected the bill. Punjab cabinet has endorsed the recommendations of the standing committee.
Approval was given for not changing formula regarding reserved seats. The proposal for giving seats on the basis of votes was rejected.
