Rain, snowfall forecast in hilly areas of KP

After a long dry spell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday issued a weather advisory and alerted the quarter concerned about the expected rain with snowfall over the hills of the province.
“After a long dry spell, a westerly wave has entered Northwestern parts of Balochistan and is likely to grip most parts of the province on Wednesday (today) and likely to persist in Upper parts of the province till Friday,” said an advisory issued by PDMA.
It shared that light to moderate rain with snowfall over the hill is expected in most districts of the province from 28th to 30th December.
PDMA has advised people to take extra precautionary measures to avoid any loss of life, damages to infrastructure, crops, and animals.
All concerned authorities have been asked to take safety measures including ensuring availability of all emergency services, machinery and other resources.
Government line departments were alerted to remain vigilant in restoring road links and in case of any emergency update PDMA and PEOC office for timely assistance.
Tourists have also been warned of the situation in the above mentioned areas of the province.
The authority has also warned that snowfall is likely to disrupt normal vehicular traffic in mountainous and hilly areas during the same period of time.
