Child and woman die, three injured as roof collapses in Doranpur | Traffic restored at Malam Jabba and Lowari Tunnel

At-least six people including two younger brothers were killed and 14 others injured in various incidents related to rain and snow in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Tuesday that due to rains and snowfall continuing in different parts of the province for the last three days, six people including two younger brothers and another child were killed while 14 others injured.
It said the rains totally destroyed two houses and caused partial damage to 16 other houses. In Malakand Division a man, woman and in Mardan a woman were killed in rain related incidents. It further informed that a man in Swat and a child In Dir Upper were killed in roof collapse incidents due to rain. In Kurram district a child, man and four women were injured.
In Katlang tehsil of Mardan two little brothers identified as Mashal (5) and Danyal (6) were killed in a water pool created by the rain. The local people and rescue workers retrieved their bodies from the pool.
At least two people including a child and woman were killed and three others injured when roof of a dilapidated house collapsed due to rain in Doranpur area of the provincial metropolis, police informed on Tuesday.
According to police, three women and two children were buried under the rubble when the roof of a house collapsed in Jinnah Hospital area of Doranpur, on the outskirts of the district.
Rescue 1122 said the bodies of a child and a woman were recovered from the rubble while the rest of the three people were retrieved in injured condition and shifted to hospital. The dead included Ibrahim (3) and a woman aged 50.
Traffic has been restored at Malam Jabba and Lowari Tunnel by removing snow from several kilometers of the nearby roads. In this regard, rescue teams of Pakistan Army and district administration remained active throughout the night.
Due to heavy snowfall yesterday, many passengers and tourists were also shifted to safe places. Rescue teams of Pak Army will continue to work till the restoration of complete traffic in the surroundings of Lowari tunnel and Malam Jabba.
