Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Population Welfare, Malik Liaqat Khan, emphasized that ensuring the provision of services to citizens at their doorsteps was a key priority for the provincial government.
He highlighted the urgent need for implementing family planning, stressing that both federal and provincial governments must collaborate to address this critical issue.
Khan called the rapidly growing population a serious challenge, underscoring that it is the responsibility of all citizens and authorities to take action to prevent further population growth.
He made these remarks during a workshop organized by the Population Welfare Department and the UNFPA, which was attended by officials from both organizations.
Khan urged the Population Welfare Department and non-governmental organizations to work together in addressing the population issue, describing the consequences of a growing population as harmful not only to Pakistan but to the world as a whole.
He stated that population growth is a national problem requiring joint efforts from both provincial and federal governments.
He further mentioned that tackling family planning is crucial for the country’s future and that the provincial government is committed to providing necessary services to the public.
Additionally, he called for reforms and improvements in planning at the tehsil and district levels, noting that these changes are essential for effective population control strategies.
