RCCI Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology Expo begins in Rawalpindi

A two-day Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology Expo organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) began at a local hotel in Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Federal Minister of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Senator Talha Mahmood. Ambassador of Turkmenistan and Dean of Diplomatic Corps H.E. Mr. Atadjan Movlamov, Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue Muhammad Iqbal, Asim Shehryar, CEO IGNITE, representative of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, former President RCCI, Senior Vice President Asim Malik, Vice President Talat Awan, Chairman Expo Raja Omar Iqbal, Vice Chairman Waqas Bin Mahmood, Chamber members including executive members and CEOs of IT companies and a large number of young IT entrepreneurs were also present on the occasion.
Federal Minister Talha Mahmood in his address said that the top priority of the government is to create a conducive environment for the business community. He said that the Rawalpindi Chamber deserves appreciation for organizing the conference and expo.
He said that the private sector should come forward and lend a helping hand to the government. Business and education are closely related.
Progress and prosperity can be achieved if both given priority and focus. He assured his services to act as a bridge between the government and the business community. Undoubtedly Pakistan is a country rich in natural resources, however, proper management is required to get the desired results, he said.
Earlier in his address, Chamber President Nadeem Rauf said that IT is an emerging sector. Pakistan’s share in IT Services and exports stood at just $4 billion dollars whereas neighboring country India’s share has been manifold, approximately $133 billion dollars.
Group Leader Sohail Altaf said that the business community wants continuity of policies, the budget is coming, and we have great expectations that incentives will be provided on priority basis for the revival of business activities.
Chairman Expo Raja Omar Iqbal gave a detailed briefing on the aims and objectives of the conference including scope, priorities and potential of the IT sector in Pakistan.
The conference also included panel discussions on topics related to artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and industry academia linkages.
