Relief goods handed over to Afghan Consul General

Relief goods loaded in five trucks donated by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce (FPCCI), SAARC Chamber of Commerce and business community of Peshawar handed over to Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah outside the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Tuesday.
The Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah and Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Mehsud inspected the trucks before departure and commended the efforts of the business community, including SAARC Vice President Haji Ghulam Ali, FPCCI Coordinator Sartaj Ahmad Khan.
The vice president of SAARC Haji Gulam Ali said on this occasion that five trucks of relief goods worth more than Rs 20 million, including food and medicine and other essentials items, were handed over to Afghan Consul General Hafiz Mohibullah for the quake-hit provinces of Afghanistan.
He said that the assistance to the affected families of Afghanistan and will also play a positive role in bringing the two countries closer.
FPCCI coordinator Sartaj Ahmad Khan also made an appeal to the people of Pakistan and business community of the province to extend their help for the earth-quack victims in Afghanistan, adding that it was the duty of every citizen to help their Afghan sisters and brothers as they were suffering due to a natural calamity and need financial help from foreign countries.
Former provincial minister Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, chairman of the FPCCI Relief Committee and other representatives of the trade body also present on the occasion.
Talking to media, Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehsud termed the relief trucks on behalf of the business community as a spirit of goodwill and said that these spirits played a leading role in both countries relations.
“Our ties with the current government of Afghanistan are strong as we both are Muslim countries it is our responsibility to help each other in the time of need,” he added.
Finally, the Afghan Consul General offered collective prayers for lasting peace in both the countries, including the reward of the victims of the earthquake and the speedy recovery of the injured.
