Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali Sunday said that the rights of all minorities would also be protected and respected and all such problems the Christian colony and other monitories have would be resolved on priority basis.
He said this while addressing the Christian community and public in an open court held here. The problems of Christian colonies will be solved on priority basis and for this the local government allocated funds for minorities and women first in the budget.
Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali said: “We have always protected and respected the rights of minorities, they are not less than brothers and sisters for us because they are also citizens of Pakistan like us.” “I am sorry to hear about the problems of Subhanabad and Shaheedabad areas that no one has paid any attention to these areas, but as a mayor I will take every practical step to solve these problems as early as possible,” Haji Zubair Ali said.
Talking to the residents of Subhanabad, Rashidabad, and especially the Christian Colony adjacent to Warsak Road, the leaders of the areas and Christian colony said that for the first time in history, Mayor Peshawar won their hearts by organizing such an open court to listen to the problems of their areas.
Later, the residents of the area, including the Christian community, detailed the problems in their area to Mayor Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali, in which illegal and uncalled load shedding of electricity and gas, overbilling, electricity poles and hanging wires were mentioned.
The residents said that there is no adequate arrangement for clean drinking water while health facilities are also non-existent in these areas. The purpose of including the responsible officers of the departments in this open courtroom was to note the problems seriously and take practical steps to solve them.
Haji Zubair Ali said that we have always prioritized the rights of minorities and provided them all possible support like our brothers and sisters which will be continued. He said, full seriousness will be shown in solving the problems of the Christian colony and the condition of the churches will also be improved very soon so that the Christian brothers and sisters do not face any problem in their worship.
He said that we first allocated funds for minorities and women in the budget, which is proof that both of them are valuable to us. Finally, the residents of Christian Colony thanked Mayor Peshawar and garlanded him with flowers.
