PESHAWAR
A call-attention notice was submitted in the provincial assembly (PA) regarding the increasing number of drug addicts in Peshawar’s industrial area of Hayatabad.
The notice was moved by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Farah Khan at the Assembly Secretariat.
In her notice, she highlighted that the growing presence of drug addicts, particularly in commercial areas such as Hayatabad and University Town, has become a matter of serious concern. She pointed out that incidents of theft have also seen a sharp rise in these localities.
According to the MPA, drug addicts often break into homes and shops during the night, stealing doors, window grills, air conditioners, and other valuables. This not only causes financial loss but also leaves the public feeling increasingly insecure.
Farah Khan further criticized the lack of effective night patrols and surveillance by the police, stating that administrative authorities and law enforcement must take urgent steps to curb such incidents and ensure the safety of citizens.
