Capital City Police on Wednesday arrested the main accused in a robbery and recovered Rs4 lakh, arms in the limits of Paharipura Police Station an official said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) City Shafiullah Gandapur addressing a press conference along with ASP Faqirabad Muhammad Shoaib and SHO Paharipura Ijaz Khan at Gulbahar Police Station.
The SP City told that a complainant Jawad, a resident of Samar Bagh reported Paharipura police that he was returning home along with his brother after exchange the currency in Sarafa Market when he reached MMC hospital where two unknown bike-riders snatched 18 lakh rupees and one pistol from them during which both the suspects opened fire from them while the firing of his brother Jamal was killed at the spot while the defendant himself was seriously injured.
He said the police lodged first information reports against the unknown accused and started further investigation.
He said the SSP Operations Zahoor Babar Afridi took notice of the incident and constituted a team comprising him, ASP Faqirabad Muhammad Shoaib, Station House Officer (SHO) Paharipura Police Station Ijaz Khan and other cops to handover task to arrest the accused immediately.
The SP City said the police investigated the case on scientific lines while also witnesses present on the spot investigated their statements and collected data of various criminal and suspects.
Shafiullah Gandapur said the investigating various angles of the incident, the monitoring of the people present during exchange of currency in the Sarafa market started, during which access to the original suspects.
He said during in action the SHO Paharipura arrested the main accused Shakir, a resident of Upper Dir present City Town and also arrested the facilitator Sardar belong to Phandu Ghaz chowk.
He said during the interrogation the both accused confessed to the crime and also involved in various cases.
He said the police also recovered stolen money four lakh rupees, a pistol and other arm used in crime at his pointation of accused
The SP City said the main accused Shakir has also the names of two more suspects for his arrest special team headed by ASP Faqirabad Muhammad Shoaib, whose arrest to be expected soon.
