PESHAWAR
Deputy Director Communication Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) Syed Saadat Jahan has said that RTI Act empowers every citizen, especially educated youth to improve governance by raising qustions through RTI, says the Act can be used as a special tool in curbing the menace of corruption from the government lines departments.
He expressed these views while addressing to the participants of a conference on ‘Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Integrity, Leadership, and Anti-Corruption Conference’ organized by Transparency International Pakistan on Tuesday.
Representatives of NAB KP, FIA, Judiciary, UNODC, GIZ, members of civil society, journalists and students of universities from all over the KP participated in the said conference.
Jahan imparted a detail lecture on RTI and shed light on the procedure that how a citizen can lodge information request.
He said “Transparency and RTI are interconnected. It empowers a common citizen to keep eye on the authorities”. Focusing on the students Syed Saadat Jahan said being a student you must should aware of RTI, specially it will help you to fight against the injustice in job selection. In conclusion remarks Syed Saadat Jahan expressed willingness to representatives of the institutions for mutual cooperation to curb corruption in the province. He thanked the Transparency International Pakistan representatives for arranging the platform.
