SUKKUR: In the wake of a fire incident at Karachi’s Mobile Market, the Sukkur administration has launched a drive to inspect safety measures in high rise buildings. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sukkur, Nadir Khan on Saturday has directed Assistant Commissioners, Mukhtiarkars, and other officials to review fire safety arrangements in prominent buildings, including plazas and densely populated areas. The inspection will cover over 54 high rise buildings, including Bridge View Plaza, Shabir Plaza, VIP Plaza, Mehran Plaza and Walls Road Plaza, focusing on firefighting equipment, emergency exits, and other safety facilities. Reports of gas meter leaks, drainage issues, and exposed electrical wires have also surfaced, raising concerns about potential hazards. Officials have been instructed to take immediate action against buildings lacking fire safety systems or emergency exits, and to ensure compliance with regulations. The district administration emphasizes the importance of protecting citizens’ lives and property, urging all departments to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. DNA
