SC declares PTI chairman bail plea in cipher case maintainable

ISLAMABAD.
Supreme Court (SC) while declaring bail plea of chairman PTI in cipher case maintainable has issued notice to federation, interior ministry and other respondents besides seeking reply from them.
The court chided the investigation officer of FIA for appearing without any notice.

Chairman PTI Bail plea in cipher case came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood Wednesday. Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Ayesha Malik are part of the bench .
The counsel Suleman Safdar read out FIR in the court.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood inquired this matter relates to what period. The counsel Suleman Safdar replied this matter relates to 2022.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood remarked you have spent one year on it. There is death sentence in some clauses, life imprisonment in some clauses and 2 years imprisonment in some clauses.
Suleman Safdar read out inquiry report and charges against chairman PTI.
Suleman Safdar said allegation has been leveled that chairman PTI asked Azam Khan to give wrong colour to cipher. Allegation is that chairman PTI caused damage to state directly or indirectly.
Justice Tariq Masood inquired has the role of co-accused been determined.
Suleman Safdar said Asad Umar was left and Azam Khan was converted from accused to witness.
Justice Yahya Afridi said in the first case it was said Azam Khan is accused.
Counsel Suleman Safdar said chairman PTI is being subjected to political victimization. I gave arguments before the subordinate court for several years.
Justice Sardar Tariq Masood remarked this will happen if you run the case politically.
Justice Ayesha Malik remarked what are the central grounds of your case.
Counsel Suleman Safdar said our case is this that it cannot be made. The allegation basically is not of missing copy.
