SCCI calls increase in PoL prices detrimental for business and industries

Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan termed recent increase in prices of petroleum commodities detrimental for business, industries and economic growth and asked the government to revise its decision forthwith.
Fazal Moqeem in a statement here on Saturday stated production of oil and gas is surplus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite the fact burden of additional prices put on this province, which is completely unjust and unacceptable.
SCCI chief criticized business and industries were reeling owing to government unfriendly policies that has accelerated unemployment and compounded miseries of business community and general public.
Moqem went on to say that KP is far away from the port city, while increase of oil, gas and electricity prices were tantamount to usurping constitutional rights of the province.
He continued that abundant natural resources including oil, gas and hydel power generation exist in KP which should be tapped efficiently for economic stability and growth and shifted its benefits to business and industries so that people won’t go to other provinces for jobs and get employment opportunities in their own province.
The chamber president said petrol, electricity and gas are used raw material in industries and increase in their prices, not only push up cost of production but also surge the transport fares and prices of essential food items that is directly affecting ordinary citizens and business community as well. Therefore, he urged the government to review its decision in the best interest of business and industries and flourish the economy.
