PESHAWAR
Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fuad Ishaq invited German investors to invest in the potentials of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially oil, gas, hydel power generation, minerals, marble, tourism, gems, agriculture, honey and other important sectors through giant ventures.
Fuad Ishaq was speaking during a meeting with Nisrin Khalil, Managing Director of Meenas Online, an German based organization here at the Chamber House on Saturday.
During the meeting, Vice President of the SCCI Ejaz Khan Afridi, former IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Ali Shah, former Executive Director General Board of Investment Islamabad Rafat Parvez and Secretary SCCI Sohail Anjum and others were also present.
The SCCI chief said KP is rich in natural resources wherein vast opportunities existed to make investments in hydel, mine and mineral, honey, marble, furniture, olive and carpet and other potential sectors.
However, he said despite having so many natural resources, KP is lagging behind in the race of development with other provinces.
Fuad Ishaq said investments and industries from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are rapidly declining due to government policies.
He emphasized the government will have to take practical steps to use the natural resources in a better way and bring economic prosperity and development in the province.
To provide immediate solutions to the problems of the governments and the business class, and to provide incentives and facilities, he added.
On this occasion, Nisrin Khalil of Meenas Online informed the meeting about the aims and objectives of her organization and investments and other important points through a multimedia presentation.
A documentary was also played on the occasion highlighting the investment opportunities in KP, aims and objectives of the Chamber and future initiatives.
On this occasion, Faud Ishaq of SCCI asked the MD Nisrin Khalil to make the registration of their members easy and at a reasonable fee so that more and more people are registered.
The SCCI president said that the chamber is currently working on different clusters which include honey, furniture, marble, carpet and pharmaceuticals among other sectors.
He said that most of KP’s trade and business import is dependent on Afghanistan and Central Asian countries.
Fuad Ishaq said that KP / Peshawar is a gateway to Afghanistan and Central Asian countries where there is a lot of business/trade and export potential.
On this occasion, MD Meenas Online Nisrin Khalil said that for the procurement of industrial machinery they will arrange funding up to 10 million euros on easy terms that should be set up in KP.
Earlier, during the meeting, it was also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding.
The two institutions have also agreed to take joint measures to promote investment, trade and export in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
