Section 144 imposed for Chand Raat, Eid-ul-Fitr

PESHAWAR: The Deputy Commissioner Peshawar has issued an order imposing Section 144 across the district to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens. The directive has been issued on the instructions of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat ahead of Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr. According to the notification on Monday, the display or carrying of weapons, aerial firing and the sale or display of fireworks have been completely banned across the city. The order also prohibits one-wheeling, over-speeding and riding motorcycles without helmets. The district administration has further banned overloading of passengers on boats in rivers, the use of unsafe rides in amusement parks and swimming in dams or rivers without life jackets. In addition, the use of heavy motorcycles and sports cars with double silencers has also been restricted. The order warns that anyone violating these restrictions under Section 144 will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. According to the Deputy Commissioner, the order has come into immediate effect and will remain in force for the next 30 days or until further notice. APP
