Security forces continuing operation against drug trafficking

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces are actively conducting a nationwide anti-narcotics operation to eliminate the menace of drugs. According to official figures, more than 1,082.56 metric tons of narcotics have been seized across the country since September 2023, while 2,694 drug traffickers have been arrested. Since September 2024, law enforcement agencies have confiscated 5.63 metric tons of heroin, 73.5 metric tons of hashish, 5.71 metric tons of meth, 10.99 metric tons of opium, and 986.49 metric tons of other narcotics. In the past week alone, 607.16 kilograms of drugs were seized, and 54 drug peddlers were arrested. The confiscated substances include 54.39 kg of heroin, 401.41 kg of hashish, 64.55 kg of meth, 62.8 kg of opium, and 23.99 kg of other narcotics.
