PESHAWAR
Participants and organizers of a seminar on “sixteen-day activism to end violence against women” called for collective efforts to end violence against women in the society and working places.
The seminar was organized by the Council of World Religions, Faith Friends, Women’s Wing in collaboration with the Department of Social Work University of Peshawar (UoP).
Students of the department and members from the civil society attended the seminar.
Addressing the ceremony Federal Ombudsperson Rukhshanda Naz said that society should follow its tradition and Islamic teaching which allow women to play its due role and culture gives full authority to women in the society and make women strong politically and economically.
The seminar was also addressed by Dr Sara Safdar, former provincial minister and Pro-Chancellor of UoP, Chairman of Social Work Department Professor Dr Shakeel Ahmed, Chairman of Pakistan Council of World Religions Faith Friends Qari Roohullah Madani.
Qari Roohullah Madani while expressing their views said that women experiencing violence in the society throughout the year and urged steps to end violence against women on every stage of life.
He said that we have to work together to increase the role of women at the provincial level so that the position and status of women can be further increased by raising public awareness.
On this occasion, a speech competition was also organized among the students of the university on the topic of how to unite and raise their voice against violence against women.
