The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet has directed the establishment division to draft a bill regarding the posting of all Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) group officers.
The committee has also directed the establishment division to refer the matter to Dr Ishrat Hussain for addressing the grievances of the Provincial Management Service (PMS) officers.
The meeting of the Senate Committee on Cabinet chaired by Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood and attended by its members including Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Senator Seemee Ezdi, Senator Samina Saeed, and MNA Ali Muhammad Khan.
Responding to a question, the secretary of law told the committee that a number of cases regarding the posting of PAS in the provinces are pending in the courts.
“If the committee or the house passes recommendations, it will have an effect on the pending court decision,” he informed the committee.
He said that the matter is “subjudiced” as it pending in the Supreme Court. The members of the committee decided to send the issue of PAS to establishment division for drafting a bill and sent the issue of PMS to the committee heading by Dr Ishrat Hussain.
