Senator Amir Walliuddin Chishti Commends CPSP’s Role

Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Senator Amir Walliuddin Chishti, delivered the keynote address at the 58th Convocation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in Karachi.
The ceremony, graced by Lieutenant General (R) Nigar Johar as Chief Guest, celebrated the achievements of 700 FCPS and MCPS graduates.
In his address, Senator Chishti congratulated the new specialists for their dedication, perseverance, and professional excellence.
He also extended appreciation to CPSP President Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and Council members for organizing a memorable and well-executed convocation.
He lauded CPSP’s consistent contributions toward strengthening higher medical education and healthcare delivery in Pakistan, expressing hope that the institution would continue its leadership in promoting excellence and service to humanity.
Highlighting the role of the Senate Standing Committee, Senator Chishti reaffirmed its commitment to supporting health-related initiatives and legislative measures aimed at improving healthcare standards nationwide.
Speaking on healthcare accessibility, he noted that the Government of Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, remains committed to expanding healthcare facilities across both urban and rural areas. He emphasized that upgrading District and Tehsil hospitals is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to provide equitable healthcare access for all citizens, particularly in underserved communities. He also acknowledged CPSP’s valuable contributions to these initiatives.
Addressing the importance of transparency in medical education, Senator Chishti praised improvements in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) process, noting that this year’s examination was conducted without any reported irregularities.
“My focus remains on ensuring that the MDCAT sets the highest standard for entrance testing in the country,” he said.
He underscored that a healthy and educated population is the foundation of national progress and urged the medical fraternity to continue nurturing young talent capable of transforming Pakistan’s health and education sectors.
“Our young doctors have immense courage and potential. We must continue to promote Pakistani talent and ensure that education and health remain pillars of our national progress,” he emphasized.
Concluding his remarks, Senator Amir Walliuddin Chishti once again commended CPSP’s exemplary efforts in advancing medical education and healthcare services, expressing confidence that the new specialists would play a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s health system.
