In KP, pandemic claimed the lives of 28 doctors 4 nurses, 8 paramedics so far

PESHAWAR
One more doctor died of Covid-19 here on Saturday amid increasing number of positive cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) Lady Dr Professor Zeb-un-Nisa, former head of the department of Pathology at KMC Peshawar has been diagnosed with Covid-19 a few days ago. She breathed her last on Wednesday.
The number of doctors who died of coronavirus has reached 28 in the province.
Apart from KMC Peshawar, Dr Prof Zeb-un-Nisa also served as the head of the department of Pathology at a private medical college in Peshawar.
The number of doctors who died due to the ongoing epidemic has risen to 28.
As the Covid-19 cases soaring across the country, the second wave of the pandemic is taking a high toll on medical professionals, forcing more than 1160 doctors, 410 nurses and other health workers into isolation across the province. A list prepared by PDA shows that apart from infection 46 health workers died from corona in KP.
Additionally, 28 doctors, 4 nurses, and 8 paramedic staff have also died from the virus infection while fighting as frontline workers at different hospitals of the province during the pandemic. Lady Dr Professor Zeb-un-Nisa was the latest victim of the virus in the province.
The Shuhda Package announced by the federal and provincial governments for the families of doctors dying of Covid-19 has not been implemented yet.
Apart from doctors being forced to work in poor health protective conditions, unlike other provinces of the country, KP’s health professionals including doctors and doctors are still deprived of Covid-19 risk allowance.
