Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has strongly reacted to recent remarks made by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In a statement issued here on Monday, Shafi Jan dismissed Maryam Nawaz’s comments as part of an ongoing political narrative that he said had failed in the face of widespread public opposition.
He referred to the recent wheel jam and shutter-down strikes across the country, calling them an historic demonstration of public discontent and a direct rejection of the “fake” Chief Minister of Punjab, who he claimed was “forcibly imposed” on the people through a “stolen mandate.”
“The protest witnessed across the nation has made it crystal clear that the strategies of the so-called Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have failed,” Shafi Jan said, adding that her claims against PTI were nothing more than an attempt to cover up her party’s own failures.
The Special Assistant further emphasized that PTI was the most popular and peaceful political force in the country, one that has consistently fought for democratic and constitutional rights.
He pointed out that the party’s struggle has always been within the bounds of law, in stark contrast to the actions of Maryam Nawaz’s political adversaries, including past violent protests against the judiciary.
“It was the people who, two years ago, decisively rejected the Sharif family and their cronies with the power of their vote, standing firmly behind Imran Khan,” he said.
According to Shafi Jan, the people of Pakistan have come to realize the true nature of the Sharif family’s political tactics, and their days in power, particularly in Punjab, were numbered.
He added that no amount of political maneuvering or repression could silence the public’s voice.
“The oppressive measures being taken against the PTI in Punjab will only be remembered as a dark chapter in the nation’s history,” Jan stated, stressing that a mandate-thieving government could never succeed in stifling the voice of the people.
PTI would continue to pursue its rights through peaceful means, Jan added.
