Fungus tainted bread
KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has declared null and void consumers court decision regarding imposition of fine on companies due to contaminated bread. The court while setting aside consumers court decision imposed fine of Rs 15 lac on the complainant. The court also ordered that penalty of Rs 110000 imposed on companies be also refunded. SHC maintained in its decision the complainant neither produced photographs of allegedly contaminated bread as proof nor he obtained any laboratory analysis to support his claim. No medical evidence has been presented to the effect he suffered illness after consuming the bread. The court remarked the claim of the complainant should have been rejected at initial stage. It was further said in the decision that the consumers court announced sentence to the companies without meeting legal formalities. The court issued this order after hearing appeal pleas of the companies. ONLINE
