Karachi. (INP) Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has launched a campaign against tax defaulting vehicles. The Road Checking Campaign, from 20th March, has been launched on the directives of provincial minister for Excise and Taxation &Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla.
During this campaign, so far 6,378 vehicles have been checked in Karachi( 3136), Hyderabad(1151), Sukkur(577), Larkana(516), Mirpurkhas(575) and Shaheed Benazirabad(423), while 263 vehicles were impounded and as many 784 vehicles ‘ documents were seize. Documents of 366 vehicles were released after payments of due taxes and penalty.
It is to mention here that during current campaign Rs. 126,718 tax from Karachi, Rs. 269,422 from Hyderabad, Rs. 211,229 from Sukkur, Rs. 161,090 from Larkana, Rs. 188,445 from Mirpurkhas and Rs.199,886 from Shaheed Benazirabad plus Rs 152,469 penalty were recovered in term of due taxes.
While expressing his satisfaction over on going Road Checking Campaign, Mukesh Kumar Chawla has directed the officers to speed up the checking and recover maximum taxes from tax defaulting vehicles , adding that to remain polite and cooperative during the campaign.
